NEW DELHI, Mar 20: Soon after the news about terror attack in Kathua broke out, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh personally called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh this morning and requested him for adequate compensation to the next of kin of Police personnel who had lost their lives in the encounter.
Home Minister assured Dr Singh of a positive response in the matter.
Later, talking to media, Dr Jitendra said, laying down one’s life for the mother land is the most supreme form of sacrifice and there is no compensation for loss of human life, but as patriotic citizens of India, we are indebted to these brave soldiers and owe it to their families to do whatever possible within our reach.
Today’s encounter, said Dr Jitendra has once again reaffirmed the fact that Pakistan is refusing to mend its ways, but more important than that, he said, the most significant message from today’s episode is that any decision on sensitive issues like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has to be taken dispassionately rising above all political considerations and essentially based on the wisdom and inputs of the security agencies.
Our military and paramilitary forces are making an invaluable contribution to safeguard our interests and therefore, it is our responsibility not to let down their morale by any means”, he added.
Dr Singh said, it is no small a coincidence that most of the terror attacks in the last two years have taken place in the twin districts of Kathua and Samba, and these are precisely the districts from where there is a suggestion for withdrawal of AFSPA as a part of its partial revocation.
