JAMMU, Feb 2: The book titled H L Gupta Educationist extraordinaire’ – the biography of Late H L Gupta, the founder of Model Academy and Model Institute of Education and Research, Jammu was released by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh at New Delhi.
Present on the occasion were Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group of Institutions; Dr Adit Gupta, Director, MIER; Dr Kiran Chaudhry, former Professor and Head Deptt of French and Francophone Studies, JNU and Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, MIER.
Being an eminent and illustrious alumni of Model Academy himself, Dr Jitendra Singh, while remembering H L Gupta on the occasion, said that he had the privilege of sharing a personal rapport with Late Gupta who inspired him with his distinctive personality and awe inspiring legacy which he diligently and painstakingly built during his life time. He said that it is rare to find individuals who can conceptualise, build and grow institutions in a single lifetime and impact thousands of people with their thoughts and actions.
“This book is an engrossing biography of H L Gupta, who rose from a simple and humble background to the stature of an extraordinary educationist,” said Dr Jitendra, adding that this book will also serve to inspire and guide those who single-mindedly chose to devote themselves to the cause of education.
The book has been authored by Late Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman, MIER Group of Institutions and the illustrious son of Late H L Gupta, who was in his own right an accomplished educationist, researcher, scholar, author and above all, a visionary ahead of his times.
The book offers a rare opportunity of a son’s insightful account about his father both as an individual and as an educationist par excellence. The readers will get a peep into the bygone era of the early nineteen hundreds, reflected in different anecdotes and pictures in the book. The memories, spanning almost eight decades, have been lucidly captured in photographs covering his inspiring life journey. The book shall provide an emotional connect for all those whose lives were touched by his great persona.
