KATHUA, Feb 17: To review the progress of developmental works in the Kathua –Doda Parliamentary Constituency and have direct interaction with district administration, Union Minister in PMO with Independent Charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh who represents the Constituency in Parliament today held the Video Conferencing with District administration of Kathua.
The Video Conferencing was coordinated by PRO of MP for the Constituency, Sanjeev Sharma while the DC Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, ACD Kathua, CPO, Kathua, officers of R&B, PMGSY etc were present during conferencing.
During the Video Conferencing the progress of works being constructed under MPLAD Fund, Government of India funded projects like Biotech Park of Ghati Kathua, Kiryan Gandyal Bridge, Seed Certification Unit, Passport Office which is to be inaugurated on February 24 at Kathua under Post Office and Passport Sewa Kendra (POPSK) scheme were reviewed with district officers.
The officers intimated, Dr Jitendra Singh that 70 percent funds under MPLAD Fund were expended in Kathua-Doda Constituency while 80 percent was spent in Kathua district. By end of March 90 percent of the fund will be spent for development in entire Constituency.
The major works under taken in the district included construction of Community Hall, Toilet Complex, installation of solar lights near Atal Sethu in Basholi and sanctioning of toilet complex there, the meeting was informed.
Besides, the progress of individual toilets constructed on International Border (IB) was also reviewed and meeting was informed that 203 individual toilets have been constructed which have been handed over to the individuals and 36 are being constructed while more 200 individual toilet blocks have been sanctioned for border areas.
The meeting was also informed that for the facilities to the people on border belt a multi purpose Community Hall with automated control system at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh will be constructed.
Dr Jitendra Singh while reviewing the progress of PMGSY roads with administration urged the DC Kathua to speed up the work. He has also been asked by the Union Minister that in case there is any problem from Centre, he should bring the same in his notice.
Dr Jitendra Singh later told Excelsior that it was the first attempt in Kathua and later will be started in other districts of his Constituency. He said 25 spots will be selected where pure drinking water through RO System will be provided.
He further said this is a new trend to reach out to the people in hilly and far-flung areas where the MP can’t reach due to inhospitable weather conditions. He said in case of emergency the MP as well as the administration can have meeting through Video.
