REASI, Sept 15: Continuing with his tour to assess the rescue and relief operations in flood-hit areas of Jammu region, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, MOS in PMO ,Space and Atomic Energy, today undertook an extensive tour of Mahore, Arnas and other affected parts in District Reasi  following which he announced that as an elected MP from the area, he was ready to “adopt” ravaged villages like Saddal and Seeri for reconstruction and rebuilding purposes.
Later, at a review meeting of Reasi district administration, Dr. Jitendra Singh received a detailed briefing from Deputy Commis-sioner Shabeer Bhat in the presence of SSP Vivek Gupta, MLA Baldev Sharma,MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma, senior officers of different departments and representatives of political parties and civil society.
Gen K.H.Singh, G O C 16 Corps briefed Dr Jitendra Singh about the rescue work done by the Army which the Minister lauded saying that the entire nation, particularly the people of Kashmir Valley, should be proud of the Indian Army.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured the District and Divisional Admi-nistration that there will be no dearth of relief material from the Centre and therefore, they should not exercise any limitation in providing relief to the affected population. However, he instructed the administration to make sure that the relief material being sent from New Delhi is promptly distributed to each and everyone who is affected, so that neither does the relief material go waste nor there is any complaint of the relief material not having been provided.
Responding to the demand for more tents, Dr Jitendra Singh said, he has already placed an order for 11,000 tents on a demand by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and he will check on that.
Dr. Jitendra Singh advised the District Administration to involve the representatives of various political parties in the distribution exercise, so that there is no occasion for a complaint of any discrimination or favouritism in distribution of material, particularly in far flung hilly tracks of the district. For this purpose, he informed that BJP party has already nominated its teams for each district to assist the district administration and the names of the members of the teams will be provided to each of the Deputy Commissioners.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, the houses and property damaged as a result of flash floods  will take long time to be reconstructed, but assured the people that the entire reconstruction and rehabilitation work will be carried out at the Government expense.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has reiterated his government’s resolve of unlimited support to revive and reconstruct the State of Jammu & Kashmir and on the instructions of the Prime Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, he himself is also personally coordinating on day to day basis with various agencies of the Central and State Governments engaged in rescue and relief operations in the State.
