JAMMU, May 16: A high level meeting of all Vice Chancellors of Universities, Directors of institutions and other heads of institutions will be held at Convention Centre Jammu on May 18 to deliberate and decide on how to foster a strong inter-institutional connect/collaboration among the universities and institutions of the region.
Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (I/C) Science & Technology; Minister of State (I/C) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, will chair this meeting which would also be attended by Prof Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to Government of India, and Dr N Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR & Secretary DSIR.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, while giving detail of the proposed meeting, said that under the novel initiative of Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, this is for the first time that a joint meeting of heads of all S&T and academic institutions is being held here, proceedings of which would be conducted by Prof Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to Government of India.
It was also informed that this meeting will be attended by Vice Chancellors of different universities viz. Cluster University of Jammu (CJU); Jammu University (JU); Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU); Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU); Central University of Jammu (CUJ); Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST).
Further, Directors/Principals of different Central & State institutes of national importance will also join the meeting. These institutes include CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Indian Institute of Management, Jammu (IIM); Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu (IIT) ; All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jammu and Principal Government Medical College, Jammu (GMC).
In the meeting, Prof Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor would give a road map for all the institutions to operate in synergy/collaboration to share research, infrastructures/facilities for a better outcome. Dr N Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR & Secretary DSIR would also give insight for fostering a vibrant connect among these institutions.
