Dr Nirmal addresses BJP workers, VDGs

KATHUA, Feb 14: Dr Nirmal Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister, Incharge Lok Sabha cluster J&K and Incharge VDG Cell and Ex-Servicemen Cell addressed a Sammelan of Village Defense Guard (VDG) Cell and Ex-Servicemen Cell at Hiranagar near here, today. A large number of VDGs and Ex-Servicemen from the Kathua district attended the Sammelan.
Dr. Nirmal Singh also addressed a meeting of BJP district office bearers at the party office, in Kathua.
While addressing the Sammelan, Dr Nirmal Singh lauded the work of Ex-Servicemen in the society. He said that Ex-Servicemen being disciplined and trained people are the backbone of the Indian society. Their disciplined approach provides an example for the youth at large.
Dr Singh highlighted the role of people of Jammu division especially people of erstwhile Doda district, Reasi, Poonch, Rajouri, Samba and Kathua in the establishment of Village Defense Committees in the late 90s and early 2000s. He said VDC members were harassed by NC-Congress and PDP-Congress governments. Dr Singh also assured the unpaid VDGs to resolve their issues at the highest level possible.
Dr Singh asked the district conveners of VDG and Ex-Servicemen Cells to start outreach programmes to reach each and every VDG and Ex-Servicemen of Kathua keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Referring to the demand of the War Memorial at Kathua, Dr Singh said that it is a genuine demand and he will take up this demand at the highest possible level. He also conveyed to the present party workers that PM Narendra Modi has reached every house of army men, para-military men, policemen, etc. who have laid down their lives for the nation with the national programme of ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’.
On the occasion, VDGs of Kathua district complimented Prime Minster, Narendra Modi, Home Minister, Amit Shah, and LG J&K for regularizing the Village Defense Committees into VDGs in terms of legal status and also regularized wages and service conditions.
After the Sammelan, Dr Singh presided over the meeting of party office bearers at BJP Office Kathua regarding the preparation of the upcoming Mega rally of PM Narendra Modi on 20th February at MA Stadium, Jammu. He prompted the party workers to aware the people about the rally so that they could also attend the rally in large numbers.
Gopal Mahajan, district president, BJP Kathua, Col (retd) Gurbaksh Singh, convener, Ex-Servicemen Cell and Basant Raj Thakur, convener, Village Defense Guard Cell were among the other dignitaries, who accompanied former Dy CM in the programmes.
