JAMMU, Jan 3: Dr Poonam Parihar, Associate Professor, working in the Division of Agricultural Extension Education of SKUAST-Jammu has been honoured with the most prestigious RASSA Fellow Award by the Royal Association for Science-Led Socio-Cultural Advancement (RASSA) in “Prof (Dr.) Kirti Singh Memorial Lecture & Natural Seminar on Natural & Organic Farming for Sustainable Agriculture” jointly organized by the Royal Association for Science-Led Socio-Cultural Advancement (RASSA), ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow & Society for Sugarcane Research & Promotion, New Delhi. The award was conferred on Dr Poonam Parihar for her outstanding contribution in the field of Agriculture Extension in general & Entrepreneurship Development in particular. The award contains a Certificate of Excellence along with a Memento. She was also awarded the Best Paper Presentation Award for the paper which She presented in the National Seminar on the topic, “Green Entrepreneurship through Local Production of Eco-Friendly Fertilizers & Pesticides. Green entrepreneurship can contribute to sustainable development by focusing on the preservation of natural conditions or natural resources such as biopesticides, biofertilizers, wastewater treatment, renewable energy and biodiversity. Dr Parihar is having a vast experience of teaching at different places. She is teaching to UG, PG & Ph.D students in the different areas of Agricultural Extension Education, Entrepreneurship/ Agripreneurship Development, gender sensitization & Communication Skills & Personality Development, Human Values & ethics & other allied subjects.
Her expertise is on entrepreneurship/ Agripreneurship development. She has done a lot of work in this area especially for rural women. She has published two books titled, “Women Entrepreneurs- A Socio Economic Study” & “Impact of Dairy SHs on the Livelihood of Women Dairy Entrepreneurs.”
