Dr Rekha nominated as national convenor for IAP Task Force

JAMMU, July 27: Dr Rekha Harish, Head Department of Paediatrics, Government Medical College, Jammu, has been nominated as national convenor for Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Task Force for Prevention of Childhood Obesity and Life Style Disorders. This is for the first time that such an honour has been bestowed to a pediatrician from Jammu and Kashmir.
A Graduate and Post Graduate from KGMC Lucknow, Dr Rekha Harish worked at various teaching cadres in GMC, Jammu since 1983, She is presently Professor and Head Department of Pediatrics. She is a teacher for MBBS, DCH, MD, PGDMCH-IGNOU for past 29 years, guide for MD (14-years), paper-setter and external-examiner for MBBS, DCH, MD-Pediatrics to various Universities of Punjab, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar-Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. She has the distinction of introducing pre-service IMNCI at UG level at GMC, Jammu.
Besides reviewer for various journals— Indian-Pediatrics, Indian-Journal of Paediatrics JIMMS, she has to her credit 35 publications in various journals. She is on the National Advisory Board for the Journal of J&K-Sciences and National Journal of Practical Pediatrics published from Chennai.
She is currently President IAP City-Branch, Jammu. Dr Rekha Harish has also been nominated as a Fellow of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (FIAP) an honour bestowed to 19 Pediatricians of the country out of 20,000 members, the formal ceremony of which will be held during Pedicon 2013 at Kolkata.
