JAMMU, June 24: Apni Party provincial secretary and in-charge membership drive, Dr Rohit Gupta has condemned the Northern Railways for its inability to manage crowd at Jammu Railway Station’s platforms flooded with the passengers.
The platforms of Jammu Railway Station are overcrowded and there is no mechanism to manage the passengers on platform that may become a cause of some mishap. The increasing rush of the passengers and overcrowded platforms also pose security threat to the people and it needs to be checked with the deployment of adequate number of staff and security personnel,” Dr Gupta said in a statement issued today.
Dr Gupta demanded improvement of facilities at the platforms for the passengers coming to Jammu from different parts of the country. He said that the cleanliness, poor parking spaces are not sufficient and ‘kullies’ are less than the required number at the railway station that often lead to mess.
He also demanded an increase of halt time of Vande Bharat train time from two minutes to five minutes at Jammu Railway Station for the facility of passengers. “The passengers are unable to de-board or board the train in 2 minutes. Therefore, it becomes imperative to increase the halt time of Vande Bharat at Jammu Railway Station,” he added.
