JAMMU, Dec 21: Prof (Dr) Ruby Reshi, a distinguished academician and visionary leader, has been honoured with the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award for Medical Education” in recognition of her unparalleled contributions to the field of medical education and healthcare.
The Award was presented to her during a function organized by All India Business Development Association and Global Society for Health and Education, at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.
She received the award during “Hospital Administration Excellence Awards” held at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. Dr Reshi recently superannuated after serving the Department of Health and Medical Education J&K for an illustrious 34 years. During her remarkable career, she held several prominent positions, including Professor and HoD Pathology at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, and later as the Principal/Dean of GMC Baramulla.
Her tenure at GMC Srinagar was marked by groundbreaking advancements in healthcare. She played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the department of histopathology and cytology & blood banking services and established a state-of-the-art Hemophilia Care Center, earning widespread appreciation. Dr Reshi further enhanced her expertise by undergoing extensive training and fellowships in the UK and the USA, which she seamlessly integrated into her work in India.
A passionate mentor and researcher, Dr Reshi has guided and co-guided 22 postgraduate students, authored over 50 research articles, and chaired more than 50 national and international sessions at esteemed conferences. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on academic excellence.
Under her visionary leadership as the Principal/Dean of GMC Baramulla, the Institution witnessed remarkable milestones, including commencement of internships for the first batch of MBBS students, introduction of DNB courses in multiple specialties, upgradation of the Nursing School to a fully functional Nursing College and securing two major projects awarded by ICMR and ICDL.
Dr Reshi’s career has been defined by her dedication, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in medical education. She remains a beacon of inspiration for aspiring medical professionals and educators across the country.
