Srinagar, Apr 17: With more positive cases of COVID19 surfacing in Kashmir, the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar today constituted a 4-member Rapid Response Team (RRT) for epidemiological investigation and contact tracing.
An order issued here by the Principal GMC nominated four members from different specialties who will assist in the epidemiological investigation as well as the contact tracing.
“Since new positive cases are being reported from various districts as such these cases are required to be immediately investigated epidemiologically. Further samples also need to be collected from high-risk contacts as per epidemiological the investigation,” the order reads.
It adds that complete details of all the positive cases investigated along with the follow up of contacts (including sample results of high-risk contacts) are also required to be communicated to the state surveillance officers and GoI accordingly.
The team has also been asked to undertake immediate action with regard to newly reported positive cases and provide daily feedback.
The team consists of Dr S M Salim Khan, Head of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM) along with his departmental staff, Dr Irfan Ali, Department of Medicine, Dr Muzaffar Maqbool, Department of Medicine, Dr Asifa Nazir, Department of Microbiology.
