Dr Sarna’s book ‘The Sikhs’ released

JAMMU, Sept 2: Dr Jabir Singh Sarna’s book, The Sikhs: Their Kesh and Turban was jointly released by MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Chetan Singh- former director Punjab Language department, R S Raina- former director Doordarshan, Surjit Singh and Gurcharan Singh Patiala in a function held here today.
While speaking on the occasion, Khalsa said that Jasbir Singh is versatile Punjabi and English writer who has done admirable work on Sikh history and Punjabi literature.
S Chetan Singh said that Dr Sarna has created a notable literary works in different genera poetry, Sikh religion, research, dictionaries etc. which is commendable. The book contains valuable information about the basic principles of Sikhism, particularly Kesh and Turban which is a praise-worthy attempt of the author. The book is dedicated to renowned humanitarian S Ravi Singh of Khalsa aid International, S Saran Singh IAS Retd and the Editor The Sikh Review, Kolkatta.
Dr Saran has 47 books to his credit. He is also recipient of J&K Academy Award, Punjab Govt Award, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar Award. Several other speakers also spoke on the occasion.
