POONCH, July 1: Expressing serious concern over the plight of health facilities for residents of border areas, Dr Shazad Malik the Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University who is on visit to his native district Poonch today slammed the health facilities offered to people residing in the border town.
While addressing residents of villages Ari and Jaba of sub division Mendhar the VC demanded establishment of a District Hospital in this border town. Earlier, during the interaction with the locals, the Vice Chancellor was apprised by the people that in the Sub District Hospital Mendhar on the name of health care facilities nothing more than glucose and syringes are available and often even for minor problems they have to either rush to the District Hospital Poonch or Government Medical College Jammu.
People also disclosed that the worst sufferers are the road accident victims and the pregnant women and the new born babies besides the victims of the border shelling on LoC. In his address Dr Shazad said it is so unfortunate that even after more than 70 years of independence, Mendhar, the border area is deliberately kept out of developmental map by the so called representatives of the area who only divided innocent people on the name of caste, creed, sect, religion and language. He asked the people of the area to be aware of the designs of these leaders.
