Dr Shrivatsa, Betab get Hinditar Bhashi Lekhak Puraskar

JAMMU, Apr 9: Noted scholar Dr Satya Pal Shrivatsa and well known Urdu poet Pritpal Singh Betab have been awarded with prestigious Hinditar Bhashi Lekhak Puraskar for the year 2010 by the Kendriya Hindi Nideshalaya (Central Hindi Directorate), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, New Delhi.
The award comprises of Rs 1 lakh cash and a citation.
Renowned Hindi, Sanskrit and Dogri Scholar  Dr Satya Pal Shrivatsa was chosen for the award for his translation work titled ‘Boond Boond Smritiyan’ while Pritpal Singh Betab has been awarded for translating his anthology of Urdu Gazals titled Shehar-Gazal in Hindi.
Their names for the award were decided by a high level Select Committee constituted by Union Minister for Human Resource Development.
This award is given to literary persons working for the promotion of Hindi language in a non-Hindi speaking State.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Dr Shrivatsa has also received prestigious Babu Ganga Sharan Singh award instituted by Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra. The award was conferred by the then President of India, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on September 14, 2006 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in recognition to the contribution made in promotion of Hindi in J&K. He received cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation.
Similarly, Dr Pritpal Singh Betab has also been conferred several literary awards
