Dr Sudhaa delivers faculty lecture in Mumbai

JAMMU, June 25: Dr Sudhaa Sharma, eminent Gynaecologist & Senior Consultant, Madaan Hospital & Research Centre, Jammu was invited as a Guest Faculty in International Conference of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), organised by PCOS Society of India at Mumbai.
Dr Sudhaa, Member Managing Committee PCOS Society of India addressed in her lecture that PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder in women of young and reproductive age and it affects women’s health and quality of life across life course.
She also stated with evidence that syndrome does not disappear as the women get into menopause and these females are at the risk of having Hypertension, Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, Obesity, Altered lipids, Metabolic syndrome and Uterine Cancer.
“Consensus made from different deliberations was that PCOS is nearly in the range of 23% in Indian population and is the pre-eminent cause of infertility. Young females mostly present with Obesity, menstrual irregularities, facial hair, acne and skin pigmentation,” she said.
Proper counselling regarding life style modifications (diet, exercise) and required drugs are to be given to them to lead a normal life, she added.
