JAMMU, Oct 23: Dr. Suraksha Chanotra, Lecturer in Department of Sericulture, Poonch Campus of University of Jammu (JU) has been conferred Innovative Researcher Award 2022 at an international conference on theme ‘Existing Climate Change Scenario and its Arising Risks’ at Baba Jitto Auditorium, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu.
The Conference has been organized by Mahima Research Foundation and Social Welfare and SKUAST at Chatha.
Dr. Chanotra received the award for her outstanding contributions in the field of Sericulture and her innovative ideas including establishment of Mulberry Germplasm Bank at Poonch Campus, Model Vermicomposting Unit at Poonch Campus of JU.
Moreover, she is actively engaged in extension activities for strengthening Sericulture sector in broad areas of J&K including Poonch, Rajouri etc.
The award was presented to her by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Kalish Choudhary and Lok Sabha Member, Jugal Kishore Sharma.
Those who were present on the occasion were SKUAST-Jammu VC, Dr. J.P Sharma; Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ah. Ganai, VC SKUAST-Kashmir and members from India and abroad.
Dr. Suraksha received the award with slogan ‘We are unique because we are associated with the most unique creature i.e. Silkworm.’
