JAMMU, May 12: Dr Vikas Gupta, PI AICRP Pearl millet and Jr Scientist (Agronomy), Basmati Rice Research Centre (BRRC), Chakroi, R S Pura, SKUAST-Jammu, has got best Research Paper Presentation award.
He was awarded for the paper entitled “Study of weather parameters relationship with performance and yield of different pearl millet varieties under rainfed conditions of J&K UT”, presented in the 7th National Convention, organized on the theme ‘Sustainable Agriculture for Self reliant India’ held at ICAR, New Delhi.
The award was given by Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The National Convention was jointly organized by Agrivision, ICAR New Delhi and Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GOI.
The research paper was based on the best suited pearl millet varieties for contingent crop planning under rainfed conditions of Jammu especially under climatic conditions. The relationships of this millet crop with changing weather conditions were also studied under this investigation based on 3-4 years data. The author gave impetus on the growing of pearl millet crop which has the capacity to grow under contingent crop planning under aberrant weather conditions.
The dignitaries present in the convention, included Dr T Mahapatra, Ex Director General, ICAR, New Delhi; Dr U S Gautam, DDG (Extension) ICAR, New Delhi; Dr B N Tripathi, DDG (Animal Science), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr B R Kamboj, Vice Chancellor, HAU, Hisar and others.
Dr Gupta has more than 15 years experience of research, extension and teaching. He has gotten more awards from various organizations for his contributions in the field of Agronomy. He has more than 55 International and National research paper publications to his credit.
