JAMMU, Nov 7: Dr Vikas Sharma of SKUAST-Jammu highlighted the use of botanicals from Jammu region in the management of cancer while presenting his research paper during Asian Plant Science Conference, held at Lumbini (Bhairahawa), Nepal.
The research paper, entitled “The leaf part of Calotropis gigantea possesses in vitro cytotoxic efficiency against human cancer cells of breast, colon, lung and prostate origin”, was presented through power point presentation, in which Dr Vikas explained the use of Jammu botanicals in cancer management.
The international conference was attended by more than 300 hundred delegates from 12 different countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, South Africa, Taiwan, Srilanka, USA, Jordan, Thailand, Finland and USA.
Dr Vikas Sharma, working as Assistant Professor in the Division of Biochemistry & Plant Physiology, SKUAST-Jammu, was the only candidate from Jammu and Kashmir.
