Drama artists call on Director DDK

JAMMU, July 20: A delegation of Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADAA) called on Director Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Jammu, here today and apprised him of their long pending demands.
The delegation, which was led by the president of DADAA , JS Babli demanded Establishment of satellite (DTH) Duggar Channel and enhancement of Budget of Doordarshan Kendra Jammu. The delegation handed over memorandum regarding the demands addressed to Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry Defense, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting besides other concerned quarters.
Janak Khajuria one of the member of the delegation said that DADAA is demanding satellite Duggar Channel with sole aim to promote, protect and develop the rich cultural heritage and languages spoken in Duggar land. He said that more than one crore Dogri speaking population stretched in between Mirpur, Bhimbher, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Kangra, Chamba and Hoshiarpur in Punjab also speaks Dogri.
The delegation also apprised the Director that Jammu is suitable place being near to the international border and line of control to propagate and promote the prospective policies of Govt of India in regard to Kashmir tangle to convince the masses living across the border effectively and counter the false propaganda of Pakistan.
The delegation informed that about 10,000 artists , producers, technician and spot boys are totally dependent on Doordarshan and they are facing hard days as the budget for Jammu has not been enhanced.
The director listened to the delegation patiently and assured to take up the matter with concerned authorities.
