New Delhi Oct 18 :Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized drugs worth Rs
39.5 crore at Mumbai Airport and arrested two persons in connection with the crime, an official
statement said on Tuesday.
”Based on intelligence developed, the officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI),
Mumbai Zonal Unit, intercepted two USA-origin courier consignments imported at Courier
Terminal in Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai. The examination resulted in the seizure of 86.5 Kg of
high-quality hydroponic weed concealed in the consignments. The consignments were misdeclared as ‘Outdoor Concrete Firepit’ and were destined for Bhiwandi, Maharashtra,” the
statement said.
The seizure was a result of multi- agency coordination with stakeholders, it said.
Further investigation and follow-up searches carried out at the related addresses of a warehouse
and office premises linked to the importer resulted in the arrest of two Indian nationals from
Mumbai, Maharashtra, the statement said.
