JAMMU, Nov 1: A joint drive by Jammu Municipal Corporation and Food Safety wing of Drug and Food Control Organization was organized in Municipal Limits Jammu to check the quality of edible products like milk and milk products, sweets, khoya, meat, chicken, fruits and vegetables in view of the ongoing festive season.
The drive was conducted under overall supervision of Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Parvesh Kumar, Dr Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer and Dr Sushil Sharma, Municipal Veterinary Officer. During the drive, different establishments dealing with food and edible products were asked to pay special attention towards hygiene while preparing edible items as any kind of negligence with regard to the same shall not be tolerated and violators shall be challaned.
During drive, various areas of Jammu city were covered viz. Panjtirthi, Pacca Danga, Parade, Jewel etc. The team lifted 30 samples of milk and milk products, sweets and other edible products for quality analysis and also imposed fine to the tune of Rs 55,000 on the defaulters for creating unhygienic and insanitary conditions in their shops and establishments.
