RAMBAN, July 31: Three persons including the driver were killed while dozen others were injured when the Tempo Traveler they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into Kunfer Nallah on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this evening.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AW-0657 was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control over it as a result it plunged into Kunfer Nallah in Chanderkote area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, leading to on spot death of 2 persons and serious injuries to 13 others. Rash and negligent driving might be the reason behind the accident.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of Army personnel and locals started rescue operation.
All the injured persons were rescued and rushed to District Hospital Ramban in police and other vehicles where one of the injured was declared dead by the doctors, raising the death toll to 3.
Later, six injured persons were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Khalil (driver), son of Abdul Gani Mir of Hochak Pogal, district Ramban and Sanjay Kumar, son of Romesh Kumar of Haryana. One of the deceased was not identified till last reports were compiled.
The injured have been identified as Prem Yadav, son of Parshad Yadav of Bihar, Sandeep Singh, son of Mohinder Singh of Ganga Nagar Rajasthan, Wazir, son of Ram Bhagat of Haryana, Ikram Kohli, son of Abdul Haq of Bantalab Jammu, Sukhdev, son of Mahinder Singh of Vijay Nagar Rajasthan, Zakir Miya, son of Vakil Miya of Bihar, Mohammal Alam, son of Sumania of Bihar, Ansar-ul-Haq, son of Itu Miya of Bihar, Baleshwar Ram, son of Burhca Ram of Bihar, Ubaid, son of Farooq Ahmed of Pattan Kashmir, Shanker Yadav, son of Parshad Yadav of Bihar and Varinder Kumar, son of Buva Dutta of Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Chanderkote Police Station and investigation started.
