Driver arrested for smuggling bovines to Valley

RAMBAN, Jan 1: Police arrested a driver for smuggling 8 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban police station laid a naka near Shan Palace on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and signaled a Tata Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK09-9232 for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 8 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was smuggling the cattle to Valley.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Rafi, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Israrabad, Sidhra.
A case under FIR Number 2/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Ramban against the accused and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Vinod Kundal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
