RAMBAN, June 25: Police arrested a driver along with 7 kilograms poppy straw.
As per police sources, on a specific information, a team from police station Ramban led by SHO Inspector Pardeep Kumar Sharma laid a naka at Shan Palace and signaled a Tavera to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver tried to escape from the spot alongwith vehicle but cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 7 kilograms poppy straw from the possession of the driver and arrested him, who has been identified as Maysir Ahmed Khan, son of Gulam Ahmed Khan if Challgund, District Kupwara.
A case under FIR Number 86/16 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Ramban and investigation started.
