UDHAMPUR, Jan 2: Chenani police arrested a driver along with 20 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Chenani Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02BQ-2783.
During checking, police recovered 20 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The arrested person has been identified as Kulwant Singh, son of Aasa Singh, a resident of Musa Chack, tehsil RS Pura, district Jammu.
A case under FIR number 4/18 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Chenani Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Chenani Inspector Paramjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Chenani Chanderjit Singh, Additional SP Udhampur Faisel Qureshi and SSP Udhampur Raies Mohammad Bhat.
