RAMBAN, Aug 25: Banihal Police arrested a truck driver along with 30 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Banihal laid a naka at T Chowk and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AJ-4148.
During checking, police team recovered around 30 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Ramesh Singh, son of Hem Raj, a resident of Kither Kahbi Jagir District Ramban.
During preliminary questioning, the accused has confessed that he was illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 160/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The arrest has been made by PSI Gourav Sumbria under the close supervision of SHO Banihal Nayeem-ul-haq and SDPO Banihal Ashish Gupta JKPS.
