Driver, associate killed as truck plunges into Chenab

RAMBAN, Nov 26: A driver and his associate were killed, when the truck they were traveling in, skidded off the road and rolled down into river Chenab near Seri Morh on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AE-0193, was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into river Chenab near Seri Morh area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, resulting into on the spot death of driver and his associate. The truck was loaded with wall putty.
After getting information, police team accompanied by QRT volunteers and locals rushed to the spot, retrieved the bodies and shifted them to District Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Daljeet Singh (driver), son of Mohan Singh and Krishan Lal (cleaner), son of Khem Nand, both residents of Rajbagh District Kathua.
After conducting autopsy, the bodies were handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
