Driver, associates arrested for smuggling bovines to Valley

JAMMU, Feb 25: Nagrota police arrested a driver and his two associates for smuggling 9 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota police station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AJ-0964 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 9 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his two associate.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Mansha, son of Abdul Rashid of Kansi Patta, district Reasi, Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Munshi of Talab Tillo and Mohammad Latif, son of Hazi Babu of Miran Sahib.
The accused were smuggling the bovine animals to Valley, but active cops of Nagrota police station foiled their bid.
A case under FIR Number 49/16 under Section 188 and 420 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered against the accused at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota police station Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
