KATHUA, Nov 18: A driver and conductor of Punjab Roadways bus were arrested here today for beating a couple inside the bus.
Hiranagar police arrested both the driver and conductor of bus bearing registration number Pb46M 9129 which was on way from Amritsar to Jammu.
Prem Kumar and his wife Manju Bala, residents of Chhann Morian, Hiranagar boarded the Punjab roadways bus from Gurdaspur to Chann Morian.
When the bus reaches Dayala Chack, bus conductor snatched the ticket and forced the couple to leave the bus but when they opposed, both the driver and conductor started beating them.
Meanwhile, people outside noticed the ugly scene and women raised alarm for safety after which locals surrounded the bus and thrashed both the driver and the conductor and handed them over to police.
A case has been registered against the erring driver and conductor.
It is pertinent to mention here that many such incidents have taken place in buses of Punjab Roadways wherein drivers and conductors have misbehaved with J&K passengers.
