JAMMU, Aug 8: Police today arrested a driver of a Maruti car along with poppy straw from Khanpur area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nagrota police station.
A police sources said that, police patrolling team from Nagrota police station during thorough checking of accidental Maruti car bearing registration number JK02K-9582 at Khanpur, Nagrota recovered 3.700 kilograms of poppy straw.
The police team arrested the driver, who has been identified as Mohammad Sharif, son of Jamal Din of Nandini and seized the vehicle.
A case under FIR number 218/14 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Nagrota Police Station Parvez Sajjad made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Khalik Choudhary.
