UDHAMPUR, Oct 10: Driver of a tempo died while nine passengers were injured when the vehicle rammed into rear of a stranded trailer truck at Gole Mela, here today.
The accident took place this morning around 7 am when the tempo JK02BF-0184 hit the trailer truck, which was parked on the roadside, resulting into fatal injuries to driver of the tempo, identified as Manzoor Hussain (25), son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Sangaldhan, Reasi. Nine passengers were also wounded in the mishap.
SHO Udhampur, Inspector Chaman Gorka along with his team rushed to the spot and shifted the accident victims to District Hospital Udhampur where driver Manzoor Hussain was declared as brought dead.
The injured were identified as Parveen Akhter (50) , wife of Ishaq Ahmed, resident of Chanderkot, Mohd Shahreen Bhat (11), son of Shabir Ahmed of Sangaldhan, Shabir Ahmed Bhat (40), son of Abdul Bhat of Chamblas Doda, Parvez Ahmed (21), son of Bashir Ahmed of Sangaldhan, Sabreen Bano (11), daughter of Shabir Ahmed of Chamblas Doda, Baljeet Singh (26), son of Partap Singh of Sangaldhan, Zahida Akhter (49), wife of Mohd Aijaz of Sangaldhan, Irfan Wani (23), son of Mohd Hanief of Sangaldhan and Shamshad Begum (43), wife of Shah Din of Sangaldhan.
In another road accident, driver was killed when an apple- laden truck turned turtle, here late last night. The truck (JK05D-8319) turned turtle and driver Mudasir Ahmad Bhat from Sopore in Baramulla was found dead inside the driver’s cabin.
Meanwhile, reports said that a stranded oil tanker caught fire near Dogra at Kud, here today even as there was no loss of life or injuries to anyone.
Reports said that the Oil tanker PB13BG-4816 suddenly caught fire when driver was cooking food near the vehicle.
