RAMBAN, Apr 9: A driver was killed when the gas tanker he was driving rolled down into gorge near Nowgam area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here.
As per police sources, a gas tanker bearing registration number JK02AD-0969 was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into deep gorge near Nowgam area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, resulting into on the spot death of the driver.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of the deceased from the gorge with the help of locals.
After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased driver was handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased has been identified as Amarjeet Singh, son of Mehar Singh, a resident of RS Pura, district Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
