Driver killed as oil tanker plunges into gorge

RAMBAN, Dec 18: A driver was killed when the kerosene oil tanker he was driving skidded off the road and plunged into gorge on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AP-0256 loaded with kerosene oil was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and plunged into around 200 feet deep gorge at Ramsoo, resulting into serious injuries to the driver.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and rescued the injured driver and shifted him to hospital in Ramsoo, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Mendhar, District Poonch.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the body has been handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A case under FIR Number 102/18 under section 279 and 304-A RPC has been registered at Police Station Ramsoo and investigation started.
