RAMBAN, Aug 5: A driver was killed while his associate got injured when the tanker they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Sherbibi area in tehsil Banihal.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02X-7011 was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver failed to negotiate sharp curve, resulting the vehicle landed into gorge near Sherbibi area in tehsil Banihal.
After getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the two injured persons to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where doctors declared driver of the vehicle as brought dead, while his associate was undergoing treatment, when reports last came in.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, son of Charan Dass of Udhampur and injured has been identified as Surjeet Singh, son of Yashpaul Singh of Kalakote, district Rajouri.
The body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case in this regard has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
