KATHUA, July 4: A truck driver was knocked to death by a unknown vehicle during last night at Lakhanpur near here when he was sleeping on the side of his parked truck during night.
He was identified as Jagdish Singh, 50, son of Raj Singh of Akhnoor. He was driving the truck carrying gas cylinders.
Police said that the driver who had parked his truck on the roadside at Lakhanpur and slept on its side was knocked to death by a unknown vehicle which fled from the spot later.
The Lakhanpur police has registered a case. The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem, the police said. It tried to locate the vehicle which crushed the driver of the truck but could not trace it.
