RAJOURI, Dec 16: The Chief Medical Officer Rajouri today placed an ambulance driver under suspension for charging money from the attendants of delivery case patient shifted to DH Rajouri from Thannamandi hospital.
Taking serious note of the complaint lodged by Zamoohrat Hussain, husband of Shabnam Kouser (who delivered a baby in District Hospital Rajouri), the CMO Dr Rajiv Sharma placed the ambulance driver Irfan Amin of Thannamandi hospital under suspension. He has been attached to Nowshera hospital till further orders.
The husband of the woman and relatives claimed that Government provides free ambulance service for taking and sending back the delivery case patients but despite this, the driver charged Rs 500 as fuel charges from them and also refused to shift the patient referred by doctors from Thannamandi hospital till his demand is met. He also alleged that his wife had normal delivery in Rajouri hospital while doctors at Thannamandi claimed that it was complicated case and referred her to Rajouri. They said there are good number of doctors and other staff at Thanamandi but despite all facility there, they just refer such normal cases to District Hospital putting the poor and hapless public to harassment. The CMO ordered an inquiry into the matter and assured action in this regard.
