MENDHAR, May 18: The police has arrested a Sumo driver and his woman accomplice in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a minor girl.
Reports said that 16-year-old Sakina ( name changed) and her sister were at home while their father and brother had gone for pilgrimage in Western UP. Mother of the girl had expired about five years back. Mohd Iqbal, a resident of Sagra has been engaged by one Azmat Bi, wife of Munir Hussain as driver for their Sumo. Munir works in Saudi Arabia while Azmat Bi looks after the operation of Sumos, they are plying in the area.
This girl who is neighbour of Azmat Bi was allegedly kidnapped by the driver. The girl told police that Azmat Bi took her to nearby area on road side and from there she was forcibly packed in the Sumo and then taken to unkown place. The girl was abandoned near Gambir Muglan in Rajouri the next evening. With the help of locals of the area she reached Police Station at Manjakote and then Mendhar police brought her to Mendhar.
The girl was kept in confinement for two days in Thana and she was not allowed to meet her family members. She was forced to change her statement by the concerned IO, her father and brother alleged.
SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim when contacted said that accused driver, Mohd Iabal of Sumo No. JK-12/4649 has been arrested and Azmat Bi who helped in the kidnapping of the girl has also been detained. He said that girl has stated that she has been rapped in confinement by the accused. The Medical examination of the girl has also been conducted. She will be produced before the judge tomorrow. The SDPO said that a case FIR No. 63/ 2016 under sections 366/109 and 376 RPC has been registered against the accused persons.
