Drivers arrested for smuggling bovines to Valley

RAMBAN, Feb 19: Police arrested two drivers for smuggling 22 bovine animals to Valley.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace and signaled two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02S-9181 and JK02-7923 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, drivers accelerated the vehicles and escaped from the spot.
Stinking something fishy, the police chased the vehicle and intercepted one truck (JK02S-9181) near some distance from the naka point, whereas the second truck (JK02-7923) was intercepted by a team from Ramsoo Police Station.
During checking of the vehicles, 22 bovines were rescued and drivers of both the trucks were arrested, who have been identified as Mohammad Sharief, son of Mehndi of Gole Gujral Camp, Jammu and Murid Ali, son of Mohammad Yousaf of Talab Tillo Camp.
Cases under FIR Numbers 29/16 and 9/16 have been registered against the bovine smugglers at Ramban and Ramsoo police stations respectively and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Ramban Police Station Inspector Pardeep Sharma and SHO Ramsoo police station Inspector Mohammad Ameen made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary, SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
