Drivers arrested for smuggling bovines

JAMMU, Apr 13: Bishnah  and Udhampur police arrested drivers for smuggling bovines.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bishnah police station established a naka at Ratnal and signaled a Mahindra Pick-Up vehicle to stop for checking.
Sensing trouble, driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the naka, but the active cops chased and intercepted the vehicle.
During checking, police rescued 4 bovine animals and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Hanief, son of Bashir of Rakh Barotian, tehsil Vijaypur, district Samba.
A case under FIR Number 40/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Bishnah against the accused and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bishnah police station SHO Inspector Paramjit Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
Meanwhile, acting on reliable information, a police party from Police Station Udhampur, laid a surprise naka on the Jakhani National Highway and intercepted one truck bearing registration number JK14B-0980, which was on way towards Kashmir.
During thorough search, the Truck was found loaded with 12 bovine animals. Police rescued these animals and seized the truck besides arresting the smuggler, namely (Driver) Mohamed Sultan son of Shah Jaman of Nagrota Jammu.
In this connection, Police has also registered a case under Section 188/RPC 3 PCA Act.
