JAMMU, July 16: J&K unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has strongly condemned the Government for keeping 12th as maximum qualification for recruitment to Class IV level posts.
Talking to media persons at Vidyarthi Bhawan Amphalla, ABVP State Secretary Mukesh Manhas asserted that the decision of UT Government setting maximum eligibility criteria (12th class) for appointment to Class IV jobs, was injustice and unfair with the educated youth of Jammu Kashmir. “By doing so, the Government is playing with the educated youth of Jammu Kashmir and depriving them of their fundamental right,” he said, adding that those having more than 10+2 qualification, are being deprived by the Government of their eligibility right for Class IV jobs in the pretext of their higher qualification.
The ABVP leader said that setting minimum eligibility criteria is good and quite justifiable but setting maximum eligibility criteria speaks of non-serious attitude of the Government towards the highly educated unemployed youth of Jammu Kashmir. “The whole Jammu Kashmir has witnessed an era of turmoil for so many years and has already been deeply plunged into unemployment. Setting of 12th class as maximum eligibility criteria for appointment to Class IV jobs will further deepen the unemployment crisis in the UT by depriving a large segment of unemployed youth possessing graduate and post-graduate degrees from not filling forms for Class IV jobs,” he explained and demanded that the Government should immediately rollback its decision and revoke the maximum eligibility criteria (12th Class) for appointment to Class IV jobs thus allowing all the candidates fulfilling minimum eligibility criteria.
Mukesh Manhas warned that if the controversial criteria is not rectified immediately, ABVP would launch UT level protests. Others who were present in the press conference, included Nandita Sharma, State Joint Secretary and Shubam Amar, ABVP President for Jammu University unit.
