JAMMU, Oct 31: In a deeply disturbing incident, a suspected drug addict allegedly killed his mother and a minor daughter with a sharp-edged weapon in Bishnah area here today.
Around 5 pm, one Jagdev Singh alias Michael son of Kura Ram of Morchapur, Bishnah, brutally stabbed his mother Kamlo Devi and a defenceless 3-month-old minor daughter (yet to be named) with a sharp-edged weapon (Kirch) when his wife and other family members were not at home, a police spokesperson said.
Soon after getting the information, a police team reached at the crime spot to gather information about the crime and to record the statements of the witnesses.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 245/2023 under section 302 of the IPC and 4/25 of the Arms Act was registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation started.
The police spokesperson further said that post registration of the FIR, multiple police teams were constituted, while putting all the police nakas on high alert and activating all the sources.
After hectic efforts, he said, “the teams succeeded in apprehending the accused within three hours of the commission of the offence.”
Meanwhile, SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar said in a statement that the Bishnah double murder case has put everyone in a state of shock. He said that accused will face the legal proceedings as per the set law.
