JAMMU, Oct 6: During raids, Drugs Control, Food and Drugs Administration here today suspended licenses of 13 Retail Sale Establishments in Kishtwar.
A handout stated that among those establishments whose licenses were suspended included four in Kishtwar city near district hospital, three at adjoining areas, four at Chhatroo, Chingam, Mughal Maidan and two at Paddar. The handout further stated that these establishments were disallowed U/S 22 (d) of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 on spot for committing breaches of the provisions of the Act & rules there-under and thereafter their Statutory Drug samples of fifteen formulations viz., Antibiotics, PPI, Steroid, NSAIDs etc were drawn to check the identity, strength and purity of these drugs. These samples have been referred to State Drug Testing Laboratories for framing legal opinion to ascertain their quality parameters.
The raid was conducted as per the directions of Controlling Authority wherein a team of Senior Officers under the direct supervision of Deputy Drugs Controller (Intelligence & Legal Cell) along with Licensing Authority ( Doda/Kishtwar) to ensure that Conditions of Licenses are being followed by the License Holders.
The team also inspected the Drug Stores and Blood Bank of District Hospital, Kishtwar.
The State Drug Controller has said that the Department shall initiate severe punitive actions against such pharmacies who indulge in any unfair/unethical trade practices.
