Srinagar, July 24: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district arrested a drug peddler and recovered 22 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession.
A police spokesman said that a police party established a checkpost at Bypass in Arwani area of Bijbehara in the district.
“During the checking, a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03A/6980 was stopped. On checking, 22 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from the possession of motorcyclist identified as Nisar Ahmad Ganie,” the spokesman said.
The accused was arrested and a case under FIR No. 143/2015 under Section 8/21,22 NDPS was registered against him and investigation was taken up, the police spokesman added.
