REASI, May 31: District Police Reasi arrested a drug peddler from Talwara area and seized a small quantity of Heroin from his possession.
During routine checking, Police party of Police Post Talwara intercepted one person namely Mohd Mukim, son of Jameel Ahmed, resident of Migrant Colony Talwara, Reasi. On frisking, approximately four gm of Heroin was recovered from his possession.
In this connection, a case FIR under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi and investigations was started to unearth forward and backward linkages.
While sharing the details, SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma conveyed that Reasi Police is working on multipronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse. On one hand awareness programs are being organized in every nook and corner of the district and on the other hand, drug peddlers are being booked under PITNDPS Act on regular basis, she said and informed that Reasi Police has also started Anti Drug Helpline Number 9070907017 for general public where identity of caller will be kept secret.
