RAMBAN, Jan 31: Chanderkote police arrested a drug peddler along with 102 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Chanderkote Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing PB13AW-5808, carrying apple boxes.
During checking, police recovered 102 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in the apple boxes and arrested one person, who has been identified as Soni Singh, son of Dalbir Singh, a resident of Chander Khurd, Fatehabad, Haryana.
A case under FIR Number 5/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in smuggling of drug.
Police team led by SHO Chanderkote Inspector Abid Bukhari made the arrest under supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
