SAMBA, Jan 1: Police arrested one person and recovered six kilograms of poppy straw from his possession at Jakh area of Vijaypur in district Samba today.
The drug peddler has been identified as Shah Nawaz, son of Wali Mohammad Bhat, resident of Qazigund, Anantnag Kashmir.
According to the report, information was received by Vijaypur Police during the intervening night, and a police party of Vijaypur Police Station headed by Inspector, Rajinder Sharma, SHO Police Station, Vijaypur intercepted one person from Jakh under the jurisdiction of Vijaypur Police Station. During his frisking police recovered six Kilograms of poppy straw from his possession and the accused person was arrested on spot along with contraband items.
The whole operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP, Samba, Dr Koushal Sharma and direct supervision of SDPO, Vijaypur, Baljeet Singh.
In this regard police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started investigation.
