JAMMU, Dec 27: Bakshi Nagar Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered cannabis from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Bakshi Nagar led by SHO Inspector Harjeet Singh laid a naka and signalled a biker to stop for checking.
On seeing cops, the biker accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but was overpowered and intercepted.
During checking, police team recovered around 370 grams cannabis from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Varinder Singh, a resident of District Rajouri, at present Krishna Nagar District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
