Srinagar, Sept 11: Police in Bandipora arrested a drug peddler and seized bottles of Codeine phosphate from his possession today.
A police party from Police Post Nowgam, stationed at a checkpoint at the junction of Nowgam Sumbal, intercepted and apprehended a drug peddler identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar, residing in Rakhi Shilvat Shiganpora, Nowgam, according to the police.
During the search, the police recovered 13 bottles of Codeine phosphate from his possession. “He has been transferred to the police station, where he remains in custody,” stated the police.
Consequently, a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at PS Sumbal, and an investigation has been initiated.
