RAMBAN, Feb 1: Banihal Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered consignment from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Station Banihal laid a naka in market area of Banihal and signalled a Santro car bearing registration number JK02AH-9178.
On seeing cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and hit a truck heading towards Jammu resulting into minor injuries to the driver.
Police team also rushed to the spot and during search recovered 900 grams cannabis and 8 kilograms poppy straw and arrested the driver, who was identified as Mohammad Rafeeq, son of Din Mohammad of Lower Munda Qazigund.
A case under FIR Number 16/2022 under Sections 279 and 337 IPC and 8/15/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation set into motion.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Naeem-ul-Haq made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Nissar Khoja and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
