Drug peddler arrested with contraband in Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Sept 7: Police in Kulgam today said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, besides, 15kgs of poppy straw was also recovered on disclosure of an already arrested drug peddler.
A police party from Police Station Qazigund during patrolling in the jurisdiction of PS Qazigund intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag.
“He has been identified as Aabid Ahmad Shah son of Mohd Yousuf Shah resident of Churat. During checking, officers were able to recover 400 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 217/2021under relevant sections of law stand registered in PS Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
In another action, officers during the investigation of case FIR No. 202/2021 of Police Station Kulgam, the arrested accused namely Aashiq Hussain Mir @Sikander son of Abdul Hameed Mir resident of Okey Kulgam further disclosed the presence of the additional contraband substance in a vehicle at his native village Okey.
“Subsequently, a police party led by DySP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhamad Bhat along with SHO Kulgam raided the specific location and recovered 15 Kgs of Poppy Straw loaded in a vehicle (Load carrier). The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said, adding further investigation is going on.
